Tailored to Perfection

Even though I hate the cold, fall does excite me because I get to bring my coats out from the back of my closet. It isn't quite cold enough in San Francisco to start wearing my winter coats just yet, so I was recently on the hunt for a light jacket or blazer to be the perfect layering piece as we transition from warm to cold weather.

I came across this blazer on Avec Les Filles' website and from the second I saw it I knew it was exactly what I was looking for! I can wear it open for an oversized boyfriend look, or i can belt it for a more tailored look. For this outfit I decided to layer a turtle neck underneath to wear it to work and school. To transition this outfit from day to night, wear the blazer without a shirt underneath and change into a pair of heels.

Painted Ladies

Both of my parents have always been very creative people. They're definitely where I get my artistic side from and they're always inspiring me to stay creative. My mom has always enjoyed painting and sketching in her free time, but over the summer she took up a new hobby of painting and embroidering on denim.

We took a day over the summer to go thrifting for different pairs of jeans and denim jackets for her to get started on her projects. She's made some amazing pieces so far, one of them being this pair of  jeans, and I can't wait to see what else she's going to make! She's thinking of starting a business out of this, so keep your eye out for it!

Avec Les Filles

Summer 2017 was one of my favorite summers yet! One of the reasons it was so great was because I had the opportunity to intern with the company Avec Les Filles. I learned more about the fashion industry over the course of just a couple of months than I could've ever imagined (and had so much fun while doing so!). Although I'm happy to be back in San Francisco for my senior year of college, it was so hard having to say goodbye to the amazing Avec Les Filles team.

In these photos I'm wearing their wide leg jumpsuit in black. It was one of my favorite Avec Les Filles purchases from this summer (and trust me, there were many purchases made). It looks good on everyone, and can be paired with some heels for a date night or with a graphic tee underneath for something a little more casual. If you aren't familiar with Avec Les Filles you can check them out here

Over Dressed

Wearing jeans under a dress? Sounds like something my grandma used to make me do before leaving the house so I wouldn’t catch a cold (Love you, Vo!). I first noticed this trend when looking at street style photos from London Fashion Week. Show go-ers layered dresses over everything, including t-shirts, jeans, and sweaters. You name it, they put a dress over it! (Ok not everything, but they did get pretty creative!) I love this look because a pair of jeans can add some edge to a feminine dress and can give you a completely new way of wearing it.

I've been planning on put an outfit like this together for a while now, but little did I know how difficult it would be. It took me many hours of trial and error to find the perfect dress and jeans combo. To save you some time, I compiled a list of tips and tricks to perfecting this look:

  •  Take the silhouette of your dress into consideration  when choosing a pair of jeans. If your dress is more oversized like mine, jeans with a very wide leg could swallow you up.

  •  Choose a pair of jeans that doesn't have any bulky buttons or belt loops - you may have the perfect cut and wash to compliment your dress, but if the bulky details of your jeans are showing through the dress it can keep the outfit from looking clean and put together.

  • Make sure the wash of your jeans compliments your dress. Think of it as putting on jeans and a regular top, some tops look better with lighter wash jeans and some look better with  darker wash jeans.

Hope my tips help! This is such a bold and fun look so don't be afraid to get creative!

Pajama Party

With the athleisure trend that took place in the fall, I should've guessed that pajamas would be next. I've been seeing a lot of celebrities and models wearing silk pajama sets and I think it looks so cool! I knew I had to get my hands on a pajama set since I love making comfy outfits looks chic. While shopping I found a ton of sets on Zara's website, they have so many awesome options whether it be something more trendy or more professional. You should definitely check out their site if you're on the hunt for one! Although I love the look of a silk set, I thought that silk may be a little too trendy because I wanted to invest in something that I could wear more often. I feel that the set I chose still reflects the pajama trend, but is professional enough to wear to work. Plus, I can wear the pieces separately for more casual occasions.

The Feeling's Neutral

I'm usually one to choose bright colors over black or white but neutrals are always a great look for the summer. Lately I've been gravitating towards white, there's something about it that always looks crisp and put together. Since I'll be spending my summer back home in SoCal, keeping it light in both color and weight is definitely the way for me to go.

I've been seeing a lot of white on the runway lately which has inspired me to add a lot of white to my wardrobe. I decided to throw my sheer beige top under my white overalls to create a monochromatic look, and I love it! Monochromatic looks are easy to put together and really make a statement!

Back to the Basics

Everyone has their go-to outfit for when they've slept in too late or are just lacking motivation to get dressed in the morning. For me, it's usually a pair of jeans and a white t-shirt. It's pretty hard to go wrong with such a classic combination.

Recently I decided that it was time to re-vamp my go-to jeans and white t-shirt look. I swapped my traditional white tee for this wrap top, and since summer is upon us and it's been surprisingly warm in SF I brought out my cotton crop-flared pants, which are more light-weight than your classic pair of jeans. With the pops of color from my mules and sunglasses this easy outfit looks like I put way more effort into it than I actually did!
